Da Nang Weather - Vietnam

When visiting Vietnam, Da Nang is a place that simply can’t be missed. The city has its attractions that are a must to visit before departing Vietnam. Within the city is the marvelous Han River, the captivating My Khe beach with romantic Ba Na Mountain resort that show case an amalgamation of serenity and beauty at one place. Hai Van Mountain range, Ngu Hanh Son Mountain, Son Tra Peninsula, Fantasy Park, Da Nang Marble Mountains, Han Market and the Cham Pa Museum are just a few to name where visitors can spend time alone or with friends and family.

What is more for the tourists are the traditional festivals that are celebrated only in the region of Da Nang. The CauNgu festival is special to the local fishermen and is celebrated as a dedication to the Whales of the sea. The Muc dong Parade festival is celebrated in the Phong Le village of Da Nang dedicating it to the young children of village who look after buffaloes. The HoaMy village festival is celebrated in neighborhood of Da Nang. It is organized as a reminder to the young ones to be grateful to their ancestors. An annual international fireworks competition is held in Da Nang drawing competitors and visitors from the whole world to participate and watch the sky illuminating in to different colors.

Life in Da Nang is not as fast paced as in Ho Chi Minh City. The traditional lifestyle of Da Nang is still preserved due to comparatively less number of visitors. Vendors are seen sitting along the Han River offering the local My Quang dish. The river features a romantic dinner on the cruise that is a special attraction for couples. The My Khe Beach has a number of restaurants that visitors dine-in to experience an impeccable taste in sea food.

Da Nang is the third largest city located in the South central coast of Vietnam. It lies on the coast of South China Sea making it one of the important sea ports of the country. It undergoes the two phases of Tropical monsoon climate – Wet Season and Dry Season and unlike the weather in the northern cities of Vietnam, its weather is highly predictable.

Wet Season - From September to March, wet season in the city of Da Nang stays for long. Average highest temperature is 31 degrees Celsius while average lowest temperature is around 18 degrees Celsius in December and January. These are the coldest months of the wet winters bringing in winds from the sea. Never the less, Da Nang’s winter is relatively mild and welcomes all those who want to spend their winters in natural warmth. The city experience high levels of precipitation with highest average precipitation of 349 mm in September and lowest average precipitation of around 22 mm in March.

Da Nang is vulnerable to typhoons that comes from South China Sea. It has a history of different typhoons and earthquakes resulting in floods and causing damage to the city. But these natural disasters or not as frequent as every year.

Dry Season - Da Nang’s dry season begins in April and continues to last till August. Temperatures gradually increase through the summer months recording June through August with the highest temperatures. On an average, the highest temperature of the city in this season is 33 degrees Celsius to 34 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels are in the range of 74 % - 80 % compared to the wet season which has relatively high humidity levels. Precipitation level is less ranging from 26 mm to 103 mm on an average.

June, July and August can be too hot to tour around the city. City stations and airports are crowded with local travelers who retreat to spend their summers in cooler places. February through May is the ideal time to visit as it is the transition time from winter to summer. It is actually spring in the city in these months when winter is departing. Humidity as well as precipitation is low. Average number of rainy days are 6 to 8 days only and it is unlikely to affect your trip. Keeping an umbrella in your backpack will suffice.
