Da lat Weather - Vietnam

Da Lat is the capital city of Lam Dong province in the southern central highlands of Vietnam. Mostly covered with abundant pine tree forests, the city is a remarkable fusion of hills, lakes and waterfalls that cannot be found anywhere in whole Vietnam. That is why during late 1800s, Da Lat has long served as an iconic resort during French colonialism in the region and is still a renowned town for tourism. The French colonists built hotels, churches, parks, schools, health clubs, villas and homes which are still present there as historical structures.

The whole hill station is full of natural eye-catching and jaw-dropping landscapes but most popular and interesting attractions of Da Lat are Po Rome Tower, Hang Nga Guesthouse (Crazy house), Xuan Huong Lake and Valley of Love. The city buildings and villas are mostly built on French colonial architecture depicting Da Lat as one of the sought-after colonial hill stations during French reign. Other popular places include Truc Lam Monastery, Dreamlike Hill (Mong Mo Hill), Dalat Cathedral or the Chicken Church, Prenn Waterfall, Lang Biang Peak, Golden Stream Lake and the Palace of Bao Dai King.

Being a favorite tourist destination especially for honeymooners, Da Lat makes a major contribution to the economy of the province. Checking weather conditions before making any plans to visit a place is always the best but when it is Da Lat, you can be carefree about its weather. Unlike other destinations of Vietnam, Da Lat is known for its moderate weather conditions all year around. In comparison to the unstable and otherwise extreme tropical weather in most of Vietnam, this city’s weather is undisturbed from heavy precipitations, flooding, extreme heat, sunlight and humidity.

Because of its stable climatic conditions, Da Lat is recognized as “The City of Eternal Spring”. Hence, any time is a perfect time for holidays in the hill resort. However, from May through August, the city experiences comparatively higher rainfall and is crowded by domestic travelers particularly from the north and coastal lowlands like Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. It serves as a refreshing vacation spot for families when children are at summer break from school and is a perfect treat for locals to escape from scorching heat. Hence, for a rather less crowded and peaceful tour of the city, it is suggested to avoid traveling in these summer months. Humidity level also gets high but none of these peak climatic levels make a contrast with those of the lowlands and highlands.

Apart from scenic beauty and ideal climate, nature has favored the city of Da Lat with the agriculture of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Its roses, orchids and hydrangeas in particular are known in the whole country. The favorable weather and land conditions make an ideal combination for the cultivation of vegetables and fruits that are sold throughout Vietnam. November through March is the highly recommended period to pay a visit as it is most dry with only 10 to 2 number of days of rainfall a month. With less humidity you can enjoy the pleasant weather and tour around in peace. New flowers of varied colors bloom in whole Da Lat thus, marking the beginning of Flower Festival in January in which diverse variety of flowers are exhibited to nature lovers visiting from far flung areas.
