Phan Thiet Weather - Vietnam

Phan Thiet is the capital city of the Binh Thuan province in the southeast of Vietnam. As a coastal city, it is a major fish producer and is famous for its wonderful beaches that are the main tourist attractions of the city. Many of the government office headquarters are situated here. River flows right through the middle of the city which serves as a small fishing harbor crowded with colorful boats. Located at a 4 hours’ drive from Ho Chi Minh City, it is popular for its exceptional sea food restaurants.

Phan Thiet has numerous attractions for sightseeing but most famous points of interest are the Ta Cu Mountain and Linh Son Truong Tho pagoda where a gigantic statue of Buddha lies, Ho Chi Minh Museum, Lotte Mart, Thap Poshanu Cham Tower, The shrine of Our Lady of Tapao and Van Thuy Thu Communal House. Near the city center is a town more famous than Phan Thiet – Mui Ne. This town attracts tourists for its white sand dunes, Fairy Spring (Suoi Tien) also known as the Mini Grand Canyon, Lotus Lake, red sand dunes, Bai Da Ong Dia beach, Linh Long Tu Temple, Mui Ne Market and Mui Ne Hot Spring Center. Ham Tien is popular among tourists for its Tropical Mini Golf and Ham Tien Market. Phan Thiet is also famous for its spas. Famous ones are Pink Family Spa, Botanica Spa and Forester Beach Spa.

Being located in a tropical zone, Phan Thiet experiences monsoon climate with two major seasons – Rainy season and Dry season. The former extends from May to October while the latter begins in November and lasts till April. The highest average temperature recorded in the city was 29 degrees Celsius. This relatively moderate temperature of the city is due to the cool winds coming from its sea shores. Humidity levels average between 75% to 85% and average precipitation lies in the range of 800 mm to 2000 mm per annum. Compared to other cities of Vietnam, downpour isn’t continuous and generally lasts for few hours only. Hence, rainfall isn’t much of a hindrance for visitors to tour around the city in peace.

Climatic conditions of Phan Thiet are mostly sunny and windy. Yearly average temperatures for the day range between 26 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius. Nights are a bit cooler. As dry season begins in November, temperature begin to fall and so does the humidity and precipitation. It stays cloudy for most of the day with sun shining for only four hours a day. Temperature could be as low as 22 degrees Celsius. December comes with a minimum temperature of 21 degrees Celsius and from January to March, it is as minimum as 20 degrees Celsius. So you can see that temperatures reduce with an insignificant difference of 1 degree on monthly basis. December, January and February experience an overall average temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Precipitation is also low and its level doesn’t exceed 50 mm in a month.

Phan Thiet starts getting hotter in May and is hottest from June through August with temperature as high as 32 degrees Celsius. The city experiences heavy rainfalls in this season. August through October is a fusion of sunny and cloudy days which is a perfect weather for beach games and activities.

Phan Thiet can be visited any time during the year but recommended times period is the dry season that is, from November to April. The city offers splendid panoramas on beach fronts for nature lovers. Watching sun go down at dusk is a breathtaking view pleasing to the eyes that is only found at the wonderful beaches of Phan Thiet.
